New entrance

New entrance

New entrance, new living and desire space…

A major project that radically alter the perception and image of the Golden Court Museum: the new entrance.

Access is possible since june of 2018 by the former Petits-Carmes Chapel, completely renovated. This place, full of history with a remarkable cachet, was built in 1675 and housed a monastic community and then the old Municipal Library. The facade, well-known, with its play of transparency, is opening the Museum to the city.

In the heart of Metz, 250 steps from the Saint-Etienne Cathedral, this new entrance catches the attention of both the Messin population and tourists. The area, with its old-world charm and its wooden shelving and its beautiful baroque lines - yet of great restraint,  became a warm and friendly space, completely renovated and free.

We can find a nice shop, a coffee shop and also an exhibition room. This place offers the discovery of recent acquisitions, restored works or even local artists.

Access to the chapel is possible from its basement, widely opened onto the Haut-Poirier Street. This is where two walls of images are displaying information and videos about the Museum's collections.
