Gallo-Roman Collections
Established in a thermal-bath building dating from the 2nd century AD, the collection of the Gallo-Roman objects of the Golden Court Museum - Metz Metropole is one of the richest of the North of France.
It stands for the ancient past of the city of Metz (Divodurum) and its territory (the city of Mediomatrique) thanks to remarkable works realized in stone, glass, bone or metal.
The monumental statuary, just like Jupiter and the Anguiped, the Relief of Mithra, the funerary steles decorated with very lively artistic scenes, the Gladiator Mosaic presenting the champions of the amphitheater, as well as wonderful elements of feminine adornment (fibulae, jewel box, mirror, ...) are surprising realizations that will allow you to better understand everyday life back to the Gallo-Roman times...
